9th July - The girls have gone, (sob sob) but they are setteling into their new homes which is wonderful. Otto is off next week to start his life in the pub,(my husband asked if he could go instead, naturally I said yes, I would swap him for Otto any day!!) All pups have now had their 2nd vacination and WALKIES will soon be their favourite word apart from DINNER!!!
I am so excited about my new website. This website is dedicated to my beautiful Leonberger 'Beau' (girl meaning Beautiful in French) GREAT NEWS, THE PUPPIES ARE HERE, 3 girls and 2 Boys born on 29th April, ROYAL PUPS, see our Gallery.
I have always loved dogs ever since my grandparents bought me a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel when I was 11. From then on I have owned two Cavaliers (one still with us he is Harvey you will see him on the following page playing with Beau and Freddie), and three Akitas (one still with us he is Freddie). After my first Akita 'Wolfie' died at the age of 13, four years ago the house was empty, he was such a big dog. After 3 months I decided to fill up that emptiness with a Cavalier and I got Harvey. But once you have owned a large/giant breed you seem to miss them even more because they have been with you for years throwing themselves down in the middle of the kitchen floor while you are trying to cook dinner, stepping over them when they are crashed out in the hall and not to forget their huge paws full of mud and making so much mess.
I Found Leonbergers
My eldest son and I were driving back from Hastings one Sunday afternoon and in the back of the car in front of us was the most beautiful, stunning dog I had ever seen. We first thought it looked like Wolfie (our Akita) except the ears were down hugging it's face. As soon as I got home I went on to the internet to research this giant dog. After several hours of desperately trying to find out the name of this breed looking at Google images for Giant dog breeds I finally found the 'Leonberger'.
From then on for at least six months I researched the breed and asked my husband if we could go and meet a breeder that had puppies. At first he wasn't too keen on getting another large dog, but we went along anyway to see them. This is when my heart fell in love with Leonbergers. We found ourselves back at Jane and Tonys just four weeks later collecting 'Beau' our first Leonberger.
Budge up! your Leonberger will want to share the sofa with you and your bed!! This is 'no kennel in the back garden breed'!!
This is my favourite snap of Harvey and Beau, she was so tiny!!
